Our Unit
The Obstetrical and Gynecological Ultrasound unit at Long Island College Hospital provides advanced ultrasound services as an integral part of the Mary Polak Oenslager Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our unit is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and offers state of the art obstetrical and gynecological sonograms adhering to the highest standards of care
We are one of the few centers in
Brooklyn where female pelvic imaging (in both pregnant and non-pregnant
patients) is performed under the same umbrella. We have acquired top-of-the-line
imaging equipment as well as a computerized reporting system that will allow
electronic report and image archiving as well as expeditious access of the
results to patients and physicians
Services
Obstetrical:
- First trimester evaluation, including nuchal fold determination/Biochemical
screening (ultrascreen)
- Early second trimester and third trimester anatomical evaluation
- Transvaginal transfontanellar brain scanning
- Fetal anomaly screening
- Multiple pregnancy evaluation
- Fetal echocardiography
- Amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling
- Antenatal testing: Non-stress testing, Biophysical profile and Doppler velocimetry
- Miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy screening
- 3D/4D Ultrasound
Gynecological:
- Evaluation of uterine, ovarian and tubal pathology
- Evaluation of uterine fibroids
- Color Doppler studies of ovarian masses
- Evaluation of patients undergoing Tamoxifen treatment
- Follicular monitoring for patients undergoing ovarian stimulation
- Hysterosonography
Our Staff
Our physicians are trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ultrasonography
and High Risk pregnancy. They have also fulfilled all the recommended
criteria of both the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and
the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for the performance of
both obstetrics and gynecologic sonography. The director of the unit is
Dr.
Natan Haratz-Rubinstein. He has long studied the diagnosis and interpretation
of Obstetrical and Gynecological ultrasound and has published extensively
on the subject. Drs. Lederman adn Leo are perinatologists with over twenty
years of experience. They are also available for high risk pregnancy consultations.
